Where you can explore the Île de Noirmoutier...

Connected to the mainland by bridge or by the famous Gois causeway, the Île de Noirmoutier with its single storey whitewashed houses is an island water garden, with swathes of blue marshland, leafy green woodlands and golden dunes and beaches.

Village of Noirmoutier-en-l’île...

Noirmoutier-en-l’Île, the island’s capital, is located less than 15 minutes on foot from the campsite. It is a bustling village with a wide variety of shops and large market, grouped around an old 12th century fortified castle, church and colourful fishing and pleasure port.

The Marais de Müllembourg bird reserve

Located between the campsite and the village, the old salt marshes (some of which are still in use) have been designated as a nature reserve for the protection of the migratory birds that come here to nest (including avocets, shelducks, common terns, black-winged stilts). During the winter, the site is used as a haven for vast numbers of birds, forced by the rising tide to leave the Bay of Bourgneuf (such as broad-billed sandpipers, barnacle geese and various species of duck).
