Noirmoutier Indigo Campsite** is located in an area that is managed by the ONF (French national forestry commission) and conforms with the ONF camping charter. As a blue Indigo Campsite, Noirmoutier exclusively offers Wood & Canvas tents for rent that nestle in perfectly with the natural surrounding environment.

• Three models of "Wood and Canvas" tent are available.

Designed with a wooden frame and floor, they are fully equipped. They can accommodate up to 4 or 5 people (Classic IV, Classic V and Indigo Wood & Canvas tents) and have a living area that opens onto a wooden terrace and two separate bedrooms.

At Noirmoutier Indigo Campsite, you will find :

Activities and a chance to relax on the campsite...

Noirmoutier Indigo Campsite is located along more than 1.2 km of coastline, with several direct access points onto Sableaux beach. It is in an exceptional location for enjoying the beach and swimming in the ocean. You can also rent canoes on the campsite to paddle along the coastline...

Right in front of the campsite you can enjoy a range of ocean activities: sailing, fishing, shellfish gathering, windsurfing... or simply lazing around!

 

The campsite has leisure facilities for you to enjoy a game with friends and meet other campers: a petanque court, a volleyball pitch, table tennis tables and a playground for small children. You can also rent bikes to set out and explore the island.

 

 

The children's workshops: Children's workshops are organised every weekday morning and involve activities that encourage children to develop new skills and learn and explore in a fun environment. Two workshops are organised over the course of the morning: one for 5-7 year olds and one for 8-11 year olds. This will give older children and adults the chance to take part in walks and bike rides around the island of Noirmoutier. Our activity leader will take you on a variety of trips such as bike rides across the salt marshes...   In the daytime you can borrow a map from reception to explore the island's footpaths, visit a salt marsh with one of our partners to discover this traditional local trade, or take part in a sculpture workshop with the artist Gandolfo who has set up his tent at Noirmoutier Indigo Campsite! And of course, you can go shellfish gathering just in front of the campsite... Don't miss our volleyball tournaments at 6 o'clock each evening and our other fun games (table tennis, etc.).   In the evenings come and join in meal nights where you can meet your fellow campers, try local specialities, and watch evening shows (clowns, magic and storytelling), open air film nights and jazz concerts on the lovely terrace of the Snack Wagon.

 

The village of Noirmoutier-en-l'île...

Noirmoutier-en-l’Île, the island's main town, is located less than 15 minutes by foot from the campsite. It is a lively village with plenty of shops and a large market, all grouped around a historic fortified castle from the seventeenth century, a church and a colourful fishing harbour and marina.

Exploring the island of Noirmoutier… Connected to the continent by a bridge and the famous Gois causeway, the island of Noirmoutier with its low, whitewashed houses, sits just above the water-line, coloured by blue marshes, green woods and golden dunes and beaches.   Set out from Noirmoutier Indigo Campsite to explore Chaize Wood … Chaize Wood is known for its holm oaks and mimosas, as well as its beautiful, shady beaches. The wood is protected by the ONF (French national forestry commission), which organised the replanting of the oak trees. A natural site to explore as a family either by foot or by bike!     Bike rides through the traditional villages of the island of Noirmoutier and its salt marshes. The salt marshes of the island of Noirmoutier used to cover a quarter of the surface area of the island (700 hectares). You can explore them by taking the 'Route du Sel', which has a selection of different routes that everyone can enjoy... Crossing the whole of the island of Noirmoutier, from Herbaudière Point in the north, to Fosse Point in the south (Noirmoutier Bridge), the tour of Noirmoutier takes you past the salt marshes and gives you the chance to discover traditional villages such as l'Epine and La Guérinière... and see the island's natural and agricultural countryside. Müllembourg marshes... Located between the campsite and the village, the old salt marshes (some of which are still in use) have been classified as a nature reserve in order to protect the migratory birds that reproduce there (avocets, shelducks, common terns, stilts, etc.). In the winter, the site is a resting place for the countless birds that are frequently driven out of Bourgneuf Bay by the rising tide (waders, Canadian geese and various different breeds of duck).
